Lines are part of our profile in human design. The lines are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Each number has its’ own narrative, archetype, or description. The profile is based on two numbers together that each has their own meaning like a fraction like 5/2 or 3/5 for example. There will be a fully detailed post on lines and profiles when it comes through. Lines and profiles are applied across energy types meaning there can be manifestors, manifesting generators, projectors, reflectors, or generators with a 3 in their profile. Profiles and types help us understand ourselves in broad strokes. Your profile and type is thus limited; i.e not granular. That’s why your profile and type are considered of equal weight to generally getting to know your HD or describing it to others.
If you don’t know your profile, you can find out over on: https://humandesignamerica.com/ ~ For now, let’s just focus on getting to know our five-line friends.
Whether or not you are a 5 or you know people with a 5 profile (hello, I am one of them✨ ) 5 line profiles are important to understand as they are prone to receive projections from others. Or more accurately the projections you place on other people of who you think they are are most inaccurate among five line people. They are known in the Human Design original text as the Heretic. The 5 is both a savior and a failure, a leader and a sheep, a blank and a blank.
When interacting people we are all susceptible to placing projections onto people. Projections can be traits, archetypes, or identities that come from our inner reality and fall onto the person in front of us. In our ego-centric world, as Bill Plotkin puts it, it is very hard to maintain the grandiosity of the ego without placing projections or form-fitting people into archetypes that fit our ego-centric narratives.
If you are a five you may be hyper conscious of the unsaid but felt energies of people around you. You may try to consciously or unconsciously try to fit these roles places upon you or feel frustrated by the pressure to conform to the projection in order to maintain a relationship with that person, as it is both difficult to prove the projection and to point it out to someone else.
Due to these projections, 5 people can often end up split by other people; in between two extremes. This can be advantageous as people can place fives on pedestals affording them opportunities to achieve and succeed where they may not otherwise be seen as having the ability to be great. It can also be a problem if the projections a five receives are more grim.
